Introduction
The following project is a curation of Pragmatic and Pragmatic tangential resources examining Conflict as it manifests Linguistically. The goal of this is to provide a digital repository for an underrepresented aspect of linguistics and synthesize 3 key areas of study as a trailhead for other researchers and any individual interested in gaining insight into the linguistics of both conflict and conflict resolution.
This curation takes form across 4 pages, with one landing page (you are here) introducing 3 subcollections: Analysis, Technique, and Media. On the homepage of FreeBlackSheep.com you can find a link as well to a Lesson Activity for language educators or Medical instructors teaching pragmatics of de-escalation within an Emergency Medicine Context. You can expect a short introduction (same as below) to ease access for readers viewing a subcollection in isolation, an image embedded with its source material, and a column of materials. These materials are academically forward facing with a set of 10 interesting research articles relevant to the subcollection, their respective abstract, as well as an annotation and APA 7th citation for each article, afterward, there will be 5 additional sources of a less academic register, including blogposts, natural examples, graphics, and Youtube videos.
This curation is decidedly more academic but serves as a more accessible space and translation of these materials. Don’t fret, all in all, there are 30 articles under focus, and 15 external materials supporting them – a total of 45 annotated materials, an introduction, and an activity. One goal of this curation is to synthesize 3 key areas across disciplines that all investigate language conflict and mediation but within different journals, and disciplines, and utilizing separate jargon.
Like a ‘Shotgun House’ materials in this curation are delivered in a linear feed-like fashion, initially presenting a visual hook embedded with interesting source material, introduction, 10 articles, and 5 external materials. The goal of this is for the reader to have their eye caught by an interesting title, get an understanding of the article, and have the materials to investigate it in more depth. Afterward, readers can extend their understanding by engaging with the embedded external materials. Each subcollection will be tailored slightly differently in an attempt to highlight each section’s most salient features.

Analysis
The Analysis subcollection is specifically tailored to fields of research that seek to describe and analyze the features and phenomena related to linguistically mediated conflict and conflict de-escalation. Supplementing external material includes blogposts as well as naturalized conflict Youtube material that after being supplemented with the salient features related to linguistically mediated conflict one could watch an engage in their own linguistic conflict analysis.
Technique
The Technique subcollection directly relates to the fields that address linguistically mediated conflict in an applied setting, addressing language problems as they relate to conflict, evaluating procedures, or recommending specific protocols and techniques related to addressing that conflict. You will find a variety of fields represented here, pay attention to how the context of conflict impacts the strategies employed!
Media
The Media subcollection relates to a field of study which examines linguistically mediated conflict as its represented in culture. You can expect to find a variety of genres under investigation including a greater supporting body of authentic cultural depictions of conflict primarily through the medium of Reality TV. You can also find a variety of methods for media analysis that you may find helpful when engaging with conflict conductive media.
